The Episcopal Church Starts A Monastic Community In Washington, D.C

This is pretty cool. See One woman, one man take Benedictine orders, forming a new monastic community in Foggy Bottom

I guess celibacy is not required for Episcopal monks/nuns?

LOL, I noticed that Chasity was not a requirement that was listed. Perhaps it was an oversight. But yeah there might be a question there. Not saying they are hooking up.

They each have an individual cells which the other is not permitted to enter. They are committed to lives of celibacy according to the Rule of S. Benedict. The Constitution of the order states that members are the "spouse of Christ" and are to have no intimate relations with other people. They hope that as more monks and nuns are added to be able to have separate houses. As with all Benedictines, Catholic or Anglican, they do not take vows of celibacy but do promise to live according to the Rule of S Benedict which requires celibacy.
