Did Obama Consult With Gulf Coast Governors On the Halt to Drilling in the Gulf

THIS IS VERY BAD NEWS. I want to know if the Governors were consulted and allowed input into this. This is the last thing Louisiana needs.

I am convinced that the administration will use this to hammer the oil industry hard .. in fact too hard and when it results in tremendous job losses in Louisiana they will place the blame on this catastrophe not on the policies that lose the jobs. It is a perfect crisis for them.

1) BP screws up and causes biggest oil spill in history
2) Job losses mount from spill to local fishing industry and tourism
3) Job losses will be exaggerated by fed policy and MOST Americans will be perfectly content to punish those damn Katrina whiners as a matter of spite.

The feds should play the punishment to BP and other oil companies carefully. They should pay dearly for their negligence. It is just too politically easy to use high job losses in Louisiana as a mandate to direct more taxpayer money to emerging green technologies. If they punish BP hard and fast that is exactly what they will get. Prudence is not a virtue government has proven they are good at.

OTOH it is the perfect time to start a green company in Louisiana. I think Louisiana will benefit from that angle of things. We already have some of the best tax incentives in the country for alternative energy.

I totally agree with what you are saying.

I guess what I find shocking about this and why I want to know who he consulted is the huge negative effects to Louisiana this will be. We are talki9ng a ton of jobs and some revenue missing. I am wondering what happens after 6months
